In 1734, Naples became once more the capital of an autonomous reign, under the guidance of Charles of Bourbon. This dynasty would shape the fortunes of South Italy and would accompany it in its vicissitudes, until the unification of Italy. Charles of Bourbon transformed Naples’ aspect, bestowing upon the city a series of buildings which have left a permanent mark upon its history. Today, the Royal Palace is the seat of the Museum which hosts the splendid Farnese collection

The Experience

Inside the Royal Forest is the Casino della Regina, a small pavilion which was used as a resting place during hunting parties, and the Cappucino Hermitage, built by orders of Ferdinand IV. The monumental Palazzo di Sansevero still preserves the 18th century entrance portal built by Vitale Finelli, which go back to the time when the Palace was inhabited by the Prince of Sansevero, one of the most noteworthy and controversial figures of that era. The family chapel is one of the masterpieces of Neopolitan art. Extremely famous is the statue of the Veiled Christ, by Giuseppe Sanmartino. Last but not least is the marvellous Reggia di Caserta (Royal Palace of Caserta), which can proudly compete with the most luxurious royal residences of the rest of Europe. Charles of Bourbon ordered the construction of this splendid palace, in order to send the aristocrats of the realm far away from the capital city. In the palace, one reception hall follows another. There is a diffusion of private chambers; while the Italian-style gardens offer unique evocations.

The voucher includes two tickets for the Capodimonte museum or the Royal Palace. Additionally, an aperitif with sampling of fine food is served at Gambrinus lounge for two persons.
