Dante is the supreme Italian poet, father of the Italian language, creator of that unequaled masterpiece, the Divine Comedy. This itinerary covers the places associated with him. Starting with the Baptistery of San Giovanni, to the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore, then to the house where he lived and the Church of Santa Maria Novella with the famousfrescoed portrait of Dante between Hell to the right and Paradise to the left. Last but not least, there is Ponte Vecchio, one of Florence’s key attractions.
The Experience
Half an hour drive from the city centre, you will find Certaldo tipical Medioeval village, home of Boccaccoi, another great poet and father of the Italian language. You will visit his native home and 2 interesting museums: il Convento degli Agostiniani and the Palazzo Pretorio, overlooking the hilly countryside.
Included in the experience are two tickets to the Dante and Boccaccio houses, the Agostiniani monastry and the Pretorio Palace. Additionally, An aperitif with sampling of fine food at Giubbe Rosse Lounge for two persons is provided.
